One of my favorite classroom jobs as an elementary student was being chosen as a line leader. I would get to lead my class down the halls to recess and lunch and I felt privileged to be chosen and took my role very seriously.
Throughout our lives we have been taught to be good leaders; to show integrity, to have good communication, and to be humble; but as Christians we are called to be followers. So how are we to be leaders and followers? God calls us to be leaders to show others the way to His kingdom because the greatest quality a leader should have is being a follower of Christ.
Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’
It can be difficult to be a follower because we have been taught to be strong leaders our entire lives, but God calls us to surrender our lives to Him. He is the one that has created us, giving those qualities to help others who are lost to find and follow Him. Just as I took my line leader task so seriously as a child, I try to give my all each day to be a follower and leader God has called me to be.
Love,
Mrs. Romo
