ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The elementary program at Sonrise Christian School provides a creative and challenging environment where children can explore and develop their academic and social skills. We strive for excellence in all that we do. Academically, this means providing each student with the best possible opportunity to learn. Yearly academic awards and honor rolls are offered to motivate students towards excellence in learning. Sonrise has a carefully designed curriculum based on high academic standards through the instruction of godly teachers with a God-given calling for Christian education. The core subjects include Grammar, Phonics, Spelling, Reading, Literature, Writing, Penmanship, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Bible, Art, Spanish and Physical Education. We incorporate both secular and biblical texts into our curriculum to ensure academic diversity and excellence. Sonrise maintains a strong academic program with the goal of preparing elementary school students to meet and exceed the standards of our middle school program, which, in turn, is designed to prepare students for the rigors of high school. Sonrise is a vibrant community that is anchored on the Bible.

K-5TH PROGRAM

Our K-5th elementary school provides a creative and challenging environment where children can explore and develop their academic and social skills. We incorporate both biblical and secular texts into our curriculum to ensure academic diversity and excellence. Our curriculum focuses on providing each student with a solid foundation of basic knowledge. Instruction in reading, writing, and math comprise a major portion of each day. We strive to instill spiritual truths and values. Students learn from dedicated Christian teachers to make decisions and set priorities from the Christian worldview. Physical activities are essential to motor-skill development. Students are involved in physical education designed to develop coordination and skills.

MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER SCHOOL

Here are three ways we stand out:

  1. 13-Acre Campus:

    Our large 13-acre campus offers over 25 classrooms, a large cafeteria, a library, a deluxe basketball & volleyball sports court, baseball & soccer fields, a custom playground with rubber surfaces, acres of green fields, beautiful mature trees, an outdoor picnic eating area, a spacious parking lot, and so much more!

  2. All-School Flag Time Every Day:

    One of our unique traditions is all-school flag time where students, teachers, and participating parents start each day rehearsing the pledge of allegiance, singing a patriotic song, making school & birthday announcements, reading scripture, and opening the school day in prayer.

  3. Continued Facility Upgrades:

    We re-invest funds to enhance the student experience. More recently, we've added a custom playground, sports court, added 6 classrooms, re-paved our blacktop, secured a perimeter fence, installed security cameras, and included Smart TVs in each classroom.
