Dear Sonrise Families,

The Christmas season is upon us and as we approach the end of the year, I have been reflecting on our school’s theme verse of Psalm 105:109 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path”. This verse takes me back to my childhood. When I was in elementary school one of my favorite songs was This Little Light of Mine. My family would hear me sing this song regularly. Little did I know that God would use this song to reveal Himself and His plan for my life.

Perhaps, like me, you grew up not fully knowing yourself and who God created you to be. I was one of those girls who graduated from high school and thought the best plan for me was to get married and have children. Not that this is a bad plan, I just didn’t believe that there could be more that I could contribute to the world. However, that wasn’t what God had in store for me.

It was during that time that God brought back to my mind This Little Light of Mine and used it to show me that I was called to share His light with people all around the world. He had called me specifically to spread His message, something I never thought I was worthy or capable of doing. God took me out of my comfort zone and lived close to home to travel all across the globe. This journey was exciting and through it all God continued to show me that all I needed to do was trust in Him.

John 8:12 “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said,” I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in the darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

As we enter into the Christmas season, amid busy schedules my prayer is that you remember that Jesus is the light. I hope that each time you see Christmas lights, candles, or a star you will be reminded of the light that Jesus has given all of us and our call to spread that light to everyone we encounter.

Love and Blessings,

Mrs. Gallagher
