Like many of us, some of my favorite memories growing up revolve around food. I can still picture our annual summer family reunions with the aunts in the kitchen and the uncles around the BBQ. My cousins and I ran around hiding from each other and the grandparents would sit around reminiscing about days gone by.
This Saturday we gathered for Sonrise’s Pancake Breakfast. For many years, families have chosen to come to Sonrise for this unique Saturday morning event. Looking around, you may have seen many Sonrise Board members behind the grill, Junior High students serving coffee and cleaning up, teachers and staff serving eggs and strawberries and Kid-Entrepreneurs training to be the next Shark Tank finalist.
Thank you to all who volunteered, rose before the sun and made this event happen. Thank you for taking time out to bring grandparents and cousins and neighbors for this October tradition. Thank you for taking time before soccer games and dance class and pausing your Saturday morning activities to come together and see what Sonrise does best - build community.
I Peter 4:8-11 says “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.”
