Stepping Away to Meet with God
In Mark 6:31, Jesus said to His disciples, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Even Jesus knew the importance of stepping away from the busyness of life to spend time with God.
This week, the junior highers traveled to Angeles Crest Christian Camp for a time of fun and fellowship with one another, but more importantly, to spend time worshiping, praying, and growing with friends who are seeking Jesus. Our prayer for this time was that God used these moments away from normal routines to remind our students who we are in Him, to strengthen their faith, and to show them the next steps He wants them to take. After all, God truly desires to reveal himself to us (including even junior highers) and encourages us to “draw near to him and he will draw near to us” (James 4:8).
Seeing our kids worshipping up at camp, working together, and stepping away from the busyness of life, was truly heart-warming. It is another wonderful experience that only a Christian school can provide. You can’t put a price on these types of experiences. Parents, be encouraged that Sonrise continues to provide the opportunity for your children “to experience the love of Jesus as they grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” (If you didn’t know, this is our mission statement!)
