As we step into the fifth week of this new school year, my heart is full of gratitude. I am thankful for new beginnings and especially for the blessing of being at Sonrise, where we have the joy of acknowledging our God in all things. What a gift it is to work and learn in a community that centers on Christ each day.
At the same time, I know we all feel the weight of the brokenness in our world. It seems that nearly every headline is a reminder of the pain and hurt that surrounds us. Yet, in the midst of this, I make an effort to remind my fourth grade class that as Christians we are called to a higher standard—one of courage, faith, and hope. We are not called to live in fear.
This truth is rooted in God’s Word. Joshua 1:9 boldly commands us: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
May this be our reminder as a school family—that with God we are not people of fear, but people of hope. May His presence encourage us in our families, in our classrooms, in our workplaces, and in every place He has called us.
