Living in faith

Hello Sonrise,

This has been my first year of teaching music here and what an amazing whirlwind it’s been for me. To become a part of this incredible family, to see all of the students grow, and to feel the joy of praising Christ each morning together is something special. It was always a dream, since I was little, to become a music teacher, and seeing God fulfill this dream, by having the opportunity to teach your children, has been such a blessing.

A few days ago on a phone call with a dear friend of mine who lives back in Michigan (where I’m from), who is a mother of two and another on the way, I was reminded of some deep truths. That sometimes in the season we are in, it is easy to wish for what lies ahead. To wish we were anywhere than where we are right now. To wish we had what our friends have; that if by some small chance, if we just had that one thing that we don’t our lives would be better. My friend and I both laughed as we realized we envied each other, she envied my life of freedom, I envied her little family.

We both took a deep breath after our shared laughter, and smiled knowingly. God had given us both an abundant life, different in this season, but both deeply blessed, rich with different types of relationships, hardships, trials to overcome and joys beyond understanding. This week I encourage all of us as summer comes quickly; don’t be too fast to pine for what is next, have joy in the waiting, recognizing the season you’re in can be full of hope and light. When we put our faith in Christ, each season of our lives can carry lessons we can grow from. While fully acknowledging the pain, we may see God’s greater purpose.

Much love and blessings to you all,

Ms. Nix
